Gongju City Allocates 1.065 Trillion Won for Next Year's Main Budget

Focus on the Prompt Implementation of Pending Projects

On the 22nd, Gongju City in Chungnam announced that it has submitted next year's budget proposal to the Gongju City Council, totaling 1.0065 trillion won, which includes 933.3 billion won in the general account and 73.2 billion won in the special account. This represents an increase of 7.1 billion won, or 0.7%, compared to this year's 999.4 billion won.

The city focused on the swift implementation of pending projects, revitalization of the local economy, and nurturing future talent.

Major projects include 5 billion won for the issuance of Gongju Pay, 1 billion won for supporting credit card merchant fees for small businesses, and 3 billion won for the construction of the second public parking lot at Sanseong Market.

Additionally, following the selection as a pilot area for the Special Educational Development Zone, 5.7 billion won will be allocated for next year's project expenses, 4 billion won for educational expenses such as overseas field trips for middle school students, and 2.7 billion won for establishing a career education center to foster local talent.

Furthermore, the budget reflects 2 billion won for creating a cultural and arts space at the Yugu textile abandoned factory, 1.8 billion won for establishing a knowledge industry center, 16.1 billion won for the Baekje Culture Starcation project, 13.2 billion won for the World Paleolithic Park, and 11 billion won for the road construction from Seou Mart in Geumheung-dong to Gongju Information High School.

The budget proposal is scheduled to be finalized on December 13 after deliberation by the Gongju City Council.

Mayor Choi Woncheol said, "We have allocated the budget with a focus on visualizing the results of the city's key projects and securing a foundation for growth," adding, "We will actively communicate with the city council to ensure smooth budget deliberation."
