Cheongnyang-eup Duhyeon Park and Beomseo-eup Saemot Small Park Awarded
Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, has completed the administrative procedures for the restoration project of damaged areas in the Taehwagang Riverside Public Housing District development-restricted zone and will actively promote the project.
The restoration project, implemented by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, involves restoring damaged areas within the development-restricted zone to parks and green spaces within 10-20% of the area released from the development-restricted zone.
In December 2018, the area around Gulhwa-ri, Beomseo-eup, was designated as the Taehwagang Riverside Public Housing District and was released from the development-restricted zone. Accordingly, parts of Cheongnyang Duhyeon Park and Beomseo Saemot Small Park sites were selected as restoration targets.
Before implementing the restoration project, Ulju-gun completed administrative procedures such as public notices for residents and consultations with related departments, and plans to officially proceed with the project after obtaining the implementation plan approval at the end of this month.
The two project sites are adjacent to areas already designated as neighborhood parks, and from the initial planning stage, the park development plan was established by linking the flow lines and facility arrangements with the existing parks.
The Duhyeon Park development project will invest a total of 2.4 billion KRW to create a barefoot walking trail and green spaces on 12,442㎡ of damaged land on the west side of Duhyeon Park in Munjuk-ri, Cheongnyang-eup, Ulju-gun. With the installation of a reservoir trail, fountain, and various convenience facilities, it will be transformed into a waterside park providing a resting space for residents.
The project is scheduled to begin construction after compensation negotiations in the first half of next year and to be completed in the first half of 2026.
The Saemot Small Park development project targets 5,737㎡ of damaged land near residential areas in Guyoung-ri, Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun, which had caused many complaints due to an adjacent livestock barn causing visual pollution and odor.
With a total project cost of 3.2 billion KRW, the barn will be demolished and a small park including a scenic forest, lawn yard, and rest shelter will be created. Compensation negotiations will take place next month, with construction starting in the first half of next year and completion scheduled for the first half of 2026.
An Ulju-gun official stated, “As this is a long-awaited project for residents, we will closely cooperate and support the implementer to ensure smooth progress. We ask for much interest and cooperation in the restoration project carried out in the development-restricted zone.”
