Sangmyung University held a programming competition on campus to showcase students' coding skills.
The College of Convergence Engineering at Sangmyung University hosted the 'Sumong Cup,' a programming competition, on the 12th from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Seoul Campus, Building 1 of the Engineering Hall. Now in its second year, this competition was a coding test contest for students enrolled in the College of Convergence Engineering, with about 50 students participating.
The Sumong Cup is a competition entirely organized and designed by the students of the College of Convergence Engineering, including recruiting sponsors, setting up servers, and creating problems. It is a program planned to enhance students' problem-solving abilities and creativity through major-related programming activities and to encourage mutual participation in campus activities.
The competition problems were conducted using a self-built platform utilizing open source tools (GitHub, Online Judge, etc.), and participants coded in a language of their choice among C/C++, Python, and Java. Participants devoted three hours to solving problems for the Sumong Cup.
In this competition, one winner was selected from each grade, totaling four winners, each receiving a cash prize. Hong Jeonghun, a senior majoring in Computer Science who won first place in the senior category, said, "It is regrettable that I can no longer participate in competitions as I am about to graduate, but I hope the competition continues so many people can challenge themselves." He added, "I believe opportunities like this will inspire more people and greatly help in developing their skills."
