Mayor Lee Dong-hwan: "Creating a Safe Work Environment... The Role of Senior Officials and Employees Is Important"

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 22nd that it conducted safety and health education on the 20th at the Baekseok annex to create a safe and healthy working environment in the workplace.

The safety and health education was conducted for senior public officials, including the Mayor of Goyang Special City, and was designed to raise public officials' safety awareness and emphasize their responsibilities and roles in creating a safe working environment.

The education was conducted by instructors Ji Dae-hyung and Shin Mi-ok from the Korea Safety Education Association, covering topics such as ▲ duties of safety and health management officers ▲ key contents of the Serious Accident Punishment Act and the Industrial Safety and Health Act ▲ workers' health management ▲ emergency treatment in case of industrial accidents.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, addressing the senior public officials attending the training, said, “To create a safe and good working environment, the active interest and participation of managers are most important. The first step in creating a safe environment begins with the will and actions of managers.” He added, “Managers' attention to safety greatly influences employees, and when safety awareness spreads widely, employees voluntarily comply with safety rules.”

He continued, “Nothing takes precedence over the health and safety of employees in Goyang City. Accidents affect not only individuals but also their families, colleagues, and surrounding environments,” emphasizing the importance of accident prevention.

On this day, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan was appointed as the safety and health management officer to establish a safe culture within the organization. The mayor mentioned that a dedicated serious accident response team has been newly established for active response and stated, “I will faithfully fulfill the responsibilities and duties as the person in charge of safety and health management and as a manager. I ask all senior public officials to join forces with me.”
