Issues in the Ineffective Employment System for Disabled Persons News Production
Lee Su-jin (3rd year, Department of Advertising and Public Relations), Executive Director, and Choi Yu-ri (3rd year, Department of Korean Language and Literature), member of the Dong-Eui University Dong-Eui Media Education Broadcasting Station, won the Chairman's Award of the Korea Communications Agency, a special prize at the '2024 Busan MBC Regional News Contest.'
Lee Su-jin and Choi Yu-ri, together with Kim Si-eun (4th year, Department of Korean Language and Literature) from Dong-A University and Kim Jin (1st year, Department of Chinese Studies) from Busan University of Foreign Studies, formed the VBY team and produced a news piece titled "Ineffective Disability Employment System... Where Are the Measures?" highlighting Busan's disability employment rate, which is among the lowest nationwide. They pointed out policy loopholes and proposed solutions. On November 20th, at the awards ceremony held at Busan MBC, they received the Chairman's Award of the Korea Communications Agency and a prize of 500,000 KRW.
The Dong-Eui Media has achieved consecutive awards for three years in the Busan MBC Regional News Contest, winning the Grand Prize in 2022, the Excellence Award in 2023, and this special prize in 2024.
Lee Su-jin and Choi Yu-ri said, "The process of reporting on and editing various companies and organizations was very challenging, but working together with team members to solve problems was rewarding and enjoyable." They added, "It was a valuable experience to deeply address issues that need to be resolved in our society, and we hope many people will take an interest in the socially vulnerable."
Busan MBC conducted a four-month public interest broadcast news contest for citizens of Busan and Yangsan from June to October. The winning entries will be broadcast through Busan MBC News.
