Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Attends Launch Ceremony of Gyeongwon Line Undergrounding Promotion Council

On the 21st at 5 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, announced that he attended the launch ceremony of the 'Gyeongwon Line Underground Promotion Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council)' held at Dongdaemun District Office.

The Council was established to jointly cooperate to ensure that the Gyeongwon Line within Seoul is finally reflected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's integrated development pilot project and comprehensive plan for railway undergrounding.

Seven autonomous districts including Nowon, Yongsan, Seongdong, Dongdaemun, Jungnang, Seongbuk, and Dobong participate in the Council. The target underground section spans 32.9 km crossing these seven districts, including the Nowon District section (Seokgye Station to Chang-dong Station, 4.6 km).

On this day, the Council adopted a joint petition and conducted signatures to be delivered to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the inclusion of the Gyeongwon Line section in the undergrounding pilot project.

Previously, on August 23, the Council held a preliminary meeting to prepare smooth joint promotion measures for the project. Moving forward, it plans to continuously cooperate to resolve urban disconnection and enhance the practical living convenience of local residents through integrated development of the railway upper area and surrounding regions.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, "The Nowon District section of the Gyeongwon Line is linked with major projects such as the Kwangwoon University station area development, Chang-dong vehicle base development, and Seokgye Station surrounding district unit plan," adding, "We will continuously express opinions through cooperation among autonomous districts to ensure that the Gyeongwon Line is reflected in the pilot project and comprehensive plan."
