The Dongducheon Smart Safety Shuttle Bus (hereinafter referred to as 'Dongteuli') is a demand-responsive transportation service that operates routes flexibly based on user demand, unlike regular route buses.
Ahead of the pilot operation scheduled for the 25th, the city conducted system usage training for drivers and onboard guardians and carried out internal vehicle inspections for the installation of operational equipment.
'Dongteuli' is characterized by its ability to change routes in real-time according to passengers' locations and destinations.
In the future, students will be able to call the bus via an app in front of their elementary schools after school and travel directly to the aftercare center they wish to go to, regardless of the route.
Dongducheon City plans to operate 'Dongteuli' in connection with 11 elementary schools and the first and second Dahamkke Aftercare Centers within the city.
This project is a key initiative of the education development special zone aimed at supporting safe transportation for elementary school students residing in Dongducheon and establishing a seamless aftercare system, and it is operated with special grants from the Ministry of Education.
Meanwhile, the 'Dongteuli' bus is scheduled to begin official operation on December 2nd after a one-week pilot operation.
