Professor Lee In-jung of Kyungpook National University Selected as 'World's Most Influential Researcher' for 2 Consecutive Years

Professor Lee In-jung of the Department of Applied Life Sciences at Kyungpook National University was selected for the second consecutive year in the ‘2024 Highly Cited Researchers (HCR)’ announced by Clarivate.


HCR recognizes researchers who have published a large number of papers ranked in the top 1% by citation count over 11 years in each field, representing 0.1% of researchers worldwide. This year, 6,636 researchers from over 1,200 institutions across 59 countries and regions were selected as HCRs. In South Korea, 75 researchers, including Professor Lee In-jung, were named.

Professor Lee was the only researcher in South Korea selected in the field of Plant and Animal Science. As a plant physiology researcher, he conducts studies on the mechanisms of plant growth regulators and microbes that alleviate environmental stress within plants.


According to Web of Science data over the past three years, Professor Lee’s papers were cited 3,141 times in 2022, 2,851 times in 2023, and 2,374 times this year. Additionally, he ranked first in South Korea for three consecutive years (2022-2024) in the field of Plant Science and Agronomy, as announced by Research.com, a U.S. academic information service platform that annually surveys and publishes rankings of scientists’ research achievements.
