Professor Chaeyounghee of National Pukyong University Receives Academic Award from the Korean Association of Chinese Studies

Professor Chaeyounghee of the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Pukyong National University received the Academic Award from the Korean Association for Chinese Studies (President Kim Hyuntae).


On November 16, Professor Chaeyounghee, along with Professor Son Dongju (majoring in Japanese Language and Literature) at Pukyong National University, received the academic award for their research paper titled ‘A Study on the Educational Content of the Sayeokwon Chinese Language Learning Materials’ at the 2024 Autumn Joint Academic Conference of the Korean Association for Chinese Studies and the Chinese Humanities Society (President Kim Taewan), held at Pukyong National University.

The Academic Award of the Korean Association for Chinese Studies is given annually to outstanding papers with excellent academic value published in ‘Chinese Studies,’ a registered academic journal issued by the Korean Association for Chinese Studies.


Professor Chaeyounghee said, “It is a great honor as a researcher to receive the academic award from the Korean Association for Chinese Studies for research on the educational methods and textbooks used to train interpreters during the Joseon Dynasty.”


Since its establishment in 1983, the Korean Association for Chinese Studies has over 1,000 members including scholars and experts related to Chinese studies. It is a nationwide academic society that embraces research in all areas of Chinese studies, including linguistics, literature, culture, and social sciences, and publishes the registered academic journal ‘Chinese Studies’ four times a year.


The recent Autumn Joint Academic Conference was co-hosted by the Korean Association for Chinese Studies and the Chinese Humanities Society, and jointly organized by Dong-A University Confucius Academy, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Pukyong National University, the Foreign Language Research Institute at Busan University of Foreign Studies, and the Chinese Humanities Research Institute at Chonnam National University. The conference, themed ‘Research Trends and Prospects of Next-Generation Chinese Studies Scholars,’ was attended by over 250 domestic and international scholars.
