Earlier this year, A took a walk with her mother to lift her spirits, as her mother had fallen into depression following the death of her father. However, during their walk, A and her mother witnessed an unexpected scene. A’s husband was holding hands with another woman while shopping. Angered, A immediately confronted her husband, and a quarrel broke out between the couple on the street.

During the attempt to stop the fight, A’s mother suffered a heart attack and reportedly died on the spot. Three months after the incident, A completed all the funeral procedures for her mother and informed her husband of her intention to divorce. The husband agreed to the divorce immediately but insisted that the inheritance left by A’s late mother be divided equally. It is known that A’s mother left two apartments as her estate. In response, A rejected the claim, saying, "How can you covet my mother’s property when you were the one who cheated?" The couple then proceeded to a formal trial.

Despite A’s opposition, the court ruled in favor of the husband, citing the legal provision that assets acquired during the marriage are considered joint property of the couple. Chinese netizens who read the story expressed their reactions in the article’s comments, criticizing the husband’s attitude by saying, "It’s chilling that the husband wants to share the inheritance of the mother who died because of him."
