Agreement on Mutual Administrative Support and Cooperation for the Construction of Seosan Branch

On the 20th, Seosan City in South Chungcheong Province signed a "Business Agreement for the Establishment of the Seosan Branch of the National Gugak Center" with the National Gugak Center at the city hall's situation room.
The signing ceremony was attended by Seosan Mayor Lee Wan-seop, Vice Mayor Hong Soon-gwang, Acting Director of the National Gugak Center Kim Myung-seok, and about 10 others, who came together in support of establishing the Seosan branch of the National Gugak Center.
The attendees pledged mutual administrative support and cooperation to build the Seosan branch for the preservation, succession, dissemination, development, and enjoyment of traditional Korean music (gugak).
The National Gugak Center currently operates three branches outside its main center: the National Folk Gugak Center, the Namdo Gugak Center, and the Busan Gugak Center. The Seosan branch will be the fifth, following the Gangwon branch, which is currently underway.
The new branch will be located within the cultural and arts town being developed in Seoknam-dong, and the scale of the project will be determined based on the results of a basic planning study currently being conducted by the National Gugak Center.
Once the basic plan is completed following the study, the detailed and implementation designs are scheduled to begin in 2025, with construction starting in 2027 and completion targeted for 2029.
Mayor Lee Wan-seop stated, "The establishment of the Seosan branch of the National Gugak Center is expected to play a significant role in the balanced development and promotion of gugak, as well as in domestic and international exchanges and the succession and advancement of gugak for future generations."
