Real-Time Road Information Sharing
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have partnered with Korea Expressway Corporation to provide more accurate real-time traffic information through vehicle infotainment systems.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 20th that they have signed a business agreement with Korea Expressway Corporation regarding this matter.
Accordingly, the two companies plan to share their traffic data to build a safer road environment. In particular, they will develop a service that accurately detects unexpected situations on highways and promptly notifies drivers to prevent secondary accidents.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia will share information collected while vehicles are driving, such as ▲accident estimated sections ▲stopped vehicle occurrence sections ▲wrong-way driving occurrence sections, with Korea Expressway Corporation. Korea Expressway Corporation will share information collected through the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), such as ▲accident occurrences ▲front speed ▲shoulder lanes ▲Hi-Pass gate openings and closings, with Hyundai Motor Company and Kia.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia customers are expected to receive more accurate accident and traffic information in real time through future vehicle infotainment systems. Korea Expressway Corporation will be able to strengthen road management to prevent secondary accidents.
Kwon Haeyoung, Executive Director of the Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Infotainment Development Center, said, "We will continue to develop various services such as driving safety to provide optimized vehicle experiences for customers and further accelerate the transition to SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle)."
Seol Seunghwan, Director of the Traffic Headquarters at Korea Expressway Corporation, said, "We will do our best to ensure that the public can use the roads with peace of mind through continuous data sharing and technological cooperation with Hyundai Motor Company and Kia."
