This general assembly marked the official start of the committee's activities to attract the GTX-G line, with about 60 attendees including Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon, Kim Yong-tae, Member of the National Assembly, members of the Pocheon City Council and Gyeonggi Provincial Council, and members of the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee.

At the assembly, the election of executives and organizational structuring were completed, and a detailed schedule plan was established to include the GTX-G line in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s ‘5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.’

The main schedule includes holding a citywide signature campaign, visits to higher authorities such as Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and conducting a resolution rally. Additionally, in 2025, the committee plans to strengthen solidarity with local residents through events such as the Cheongseongsan Sunrise Festival.

The GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee will continue its efforts to attract the GTX line through visits to related agencies such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gyeonggi Province, as well as through internal and external activities, actively contributing to the development of Pocheon City and the expansion of its transportation infrastructure.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “Attracting the GTX is the wish of all Pocheon citizens and an important opportunity to open the railway era in Pocheon. The united strength of 140,000 citizens is absolutely necessary. I and the public officials of Pocheon City will devote all our efforts to attract the GTX.”

Meanwhile, the GTX-G line is a metropolitan express railway spanning 84.7 km, connecting Pocheon Songwoo to Dongui-jeongbu, Guri, Nonhyeon, Sadang, Gwangmyeong, and finally to Incheon Sungui. The project is expected to cost approximately 7.679 trillion KRW.

Once completed, the GTX-G line will allow travel from Pocheon to Gangnam Nonhyeon Station in about 30 minutes and to Gwangmyeong Station (KTX) in about 43 minutes, improving Pocheon’s transportation conditions and greatly contributing to its development.

In May, Pocheon City requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to include the GTX-G line in the ‘5th National Railway Network Construction Plan (2026?2035),’ and in June, the city solidified its commitment to attracting the GTX by signing a win-win cooperation agreement with the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, members of the National Assembly, and heads of local governments along the GTX-G line.
