Financial Services Commission to Hold 'Finance and Economic Life' Course Briefing Next Month

New High School Curriculum to Be Established Next Year
"Promoting Subjects and Encouraging Selection"

The Financial Services Commission announced that it will hold an orientation session for social studies teachers and related personnel to promote and encourage the selection of the newly established high school course, ‘Finance and Economic Life,’ starting next year.

The orientation will take place on the 18th of next month at 2 p.m. in the International Conference Room of the Bankers’ Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul. The target audience includes social studies teachers, school officials, and related organizations involved in financial education. A live broadcast on YouTube will also be provided for school officials who cannot attend due to academic schedules.

At this event, the Financial Services Commission stated that it will convey how financial education within school curricula can protect youth from illegal private loans, voice phishing, and other risks. It will also share teaching models and best practices needed in actual finance course classrooms.

Financial education-related organizations and the entire financial sector will voluntarily support the operation of finance courses by providing teaching materials, lesson plans, and teaching models so that teachers and students can benefit. The financial authorities also plan to actively cooperate and encourage these efforts.

The Financial Services Commission expressed hope for active interest and attendance, stating, “We expect many social studies teachers, school officials, and Ministry of Education personnel to exchange opinions on support for finance course classes and receive the necessary assistance.”
