Ministry of Industry Selects Two Types of Cranes as 'World-Class Products'
'Remote Operation Function' Key Equipment for Smart Ports

HD Hyundai Samho (President Kim Jae-eul) has had two types of cranes it produced recognized for technological innovation and global market leadership, earning the government’s designation as ‘World-Class Products.’

According to HD Hyundai Samho on the 20th, at the World-Class Product certification ceremony held the previous day at Lotte Hotel World in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the ‘Goliath Crane’ and the ‘Double Trolley Container Crane’ received new certifications.

The Goliath Crane is a large crane used to handle heavy loads of up to 1,600 tons, equipped to carry large blocks and engines. This crane is exported to overseas shipyards in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, India, and others, and HD Hyundai Samho is the only domestic company capable of performing the entire process from design to installation.

The ‘Double Trolley Container Crane’ operates at ports and is equipped with unmanned automated remote control functions, making it essential equipment for building smart ports. It is used as a core facility in fully automated domestic ports such as Busan New Port and is also exported overseas.

With this World-Class Product certification, HD Hyundai Samho has already been certified in various ship sectors including oil tankers, LNG carriers, and LPG carriers. This brings the total number of products certified as World-Class Products by HD Hyundai Samho to nine.

An HD Hyundai Samho official stated, “We will lead the global market based on innovative technology and product reliability not only in ships but also in the crane sector.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy fosters innovative products and manufacturing companies through the ‘World-Class Product Development Project,’ providing benefits such as overseas marketing, research and development (R&D), and financial support to participating companies.
