Jangseong-gun Supports 'University Tuition Fees'... Up to 2 Million Won

Applications Accepted Until the 20th of Next Month... Payments to Be Made in Early January Next Year

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 20th that it will accept applications for the "2024 2nd Semester University Tuition Support Project" until the 20th of next month.

First implemented in Jeollanam-do last year, the "University Tuition Support Project" provides support for actual tuition expenses up to 2 million KRW per semester, and each student can receive support up to 8 times in total.

The eligibility criteria are ▲ the guardian must have been registered as a resident in Jangseong-gun for more than 3 years as of the announcement date (November 11, 2024) ▲ completed at least 12 credits in the previous semester with an average grade of C or higher ▲ be a domestic university student aged 30 or younger (born after January 1, 1994). Only students who applied for the 2nd semester National Scholarship from the Korea Student Aid Foundation in May-June or August-September are eligible to apply.

Applications can be submitted by visiting the local administrative welfare center with the required documents or by sending them via registered mail by the 20th of next month.

After verifying eligibility, the county plans to provide scholarships in early January next year, when on-campus scholarships and National Scholarship Type II are determined.

A county official stated, "Students who wish to receive tuition support for the first semester of next year, including freshmen, should pre-apply for the 2025 1st semester National Scholarship at the Korea Student Aid Foundation from the 21st of this month until the 26th of next month or during February to March next year," adding, "Please carefully check the eligibility requirements and application periods to receive the benefits."
