A story has emerged about a man who was sexually harassed by a female customer at a mill but did not receive a proper apology.
On the 19th, JTBC's 'Case Manager' reported that Mr. A, a man in his 20s running a mill in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, was sexually harassed by a female customer in her 40s. According to the report, on the 9th of last month, while Mr. A was working in his shop, a woman came inside. She asked, "Do you also grind chili peppers here?" to which Mr. A replied, "Yes, we do chili peppers and also have chili powder."
Afterwards, the woman wandered around the shop, touching various machines without saying much. Mr. A told her, "It's dangerous, so please don't stay near the machines," but she did not listen, so he asked her to leave the shop. Despite this, the woman came back inside the mill and suddenly grabbed Mr. A's genital area. Startled, Mr. A asked, "What are you doing?" but the woman did not respond and attempted to sexually harass him again.
Eventually, Mr. A reported the woman to the police and revealed the sexual harassment incident by showing CCTV footage. However, the woman left without a single apology. What further infuriated Mr. A was the police's attitude. The police reportedly said, "The perpetrator does not seem to be normal," and "Since this is a case where the genders are reversed, the punishment might be lighter."
About a month later, the woman visited the mill again with her husband. She claimed, "I sometimes act like this when I have headaches. I don't remember well and only realized when it was time to be investigated," and demanded a settlement. Angry at those who pressured him for a settlement without an apology, Mr. A asked, "How much do you want for the settlement? Do you happen to have 20 million won?" The woman's husband replied, "20 million won is too much. I'll be generous and offer 10 million won." Mr. A told 'Case Manager,' "The woman, who cut off contact again, sent a text message saying, 'Sorry. My husband won't give the money. I have a headache.' After experiencing sexual harassment, I understand how victims feel. I felt shame and humiliation," he expressed.
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "Regardless of gender, this behavior deserves punishment," "Using headaches as an excuse for this is creepy," and "I don't understand the police's lukewarm attitude."
