On December 5th at Sejong Arts Academy Circle Hall
Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced on the 20th that it will hold a 'Musical Book Talk' with Minumsa Publishing Group on December 5th ahead of the opening of the Seoul Metropolitan Musical Group's original musical 'Macbeth.' The Musical Book Talk will take place on December 5th at 7:30 PM in the Sejong Lounge, Basement 1, Sejong Arts Academy Circle Hall at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
The Seoul Metropolitan Musical Group's original musical Macbeth premiered last year and is scheduled to be performed again from December 12 to 29 at the M Theater in Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. The Musical Book Talk will be hosted by writer Kim Hana, who wrote 'Golden Bell Sound.' 'Golden Bell Sound' is a classical reading essay introducing five classic works included in the Minumsa World Literature Series.
The Musical Book Talk consists of two parts: Part 1 is a lecture on Macbeth by writer Kim Hana, and Part 2 is a dialogue with director Shin Jae-hoon of the musical Macbeth. It will cover not only the director’s perspective on Shakespeare and the musical Macbeth but also the parts he wanted to show the audience through his direction. Additionally, actors Heo Do-young and Lee Yeon-kyung, newly cast this year as Macbeth and Macbunny, will perform live numbers such as 'Uncomfortable Lullaby,' 'Irreversible Wall,' and 'I Didn’t Know the Crown Would Be This Heavy.'
The Musical Book Talk is limited to 60 participants and can be applied for through the event tab on Minumsa’s website. The Seoul Metropolitan Musical Group plans to broadcast the book talk live on their YouTube channel.
A special discount event for the musical Macbeth will also be offered. The Seoul Arts Center performed 'Hamlet' starring Cho Seung-woo until the 17th, and the National Theater Company also performed Hamlet in July, making Shakespeare’s works particularly frequent this year.
Sejong Center for the Performing Arts announced that customers who watch other Shakespeare works regardless of genre and then watch the musical Macbeth will receive a 25% discount. Detailed information can be found on the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts website. Ticket prices for the Seoul Metropolitan Musical Group’s Macbeth range from 30,000 to 70,000 KRW.
