Delinquent Taxpayers Owing Over 10 Million Won for More Than One Year
Chungnam Province disclosed the list of 513 individuals and entities with high-value and habitual arrears in local taxes and local administrative sanctions and surcharges on the 20th.
The disclosed subjects are those who have been in arrears of 10 million KRW or more for at least one year since the date of default. The disclosed information includes name, address, and amount in arrears.
Among the 513 defaulters, 445 are in arrears of local taxes and 68 are in arrears of local administrative sanctions and surcharges.
The total amount in arrears reaches 16.5 billion KRW, with 14.6 billion KRW in local taxes and 1.9 billion KRW in local administrative sanctions and surcharges.
The highest amount in local tax arrears is 200 million KRW for corporations and 300 million KRW for individuals, while for local administrative sanctions and surcharges, it is 100 million KRW for corporations and 200 million KRW for individuals.
Since January 1, the province has provided prior notice and a statement period of more than six months to the subjects for disclosure starting in April, and during this period, collected 1.317 billion KRW in local taxes and 641 million KRW in local administrative sanctions and surcharges.
A provincial official stated, "Following the disclosure of the list, we plan to take strong measures against high-value and habitual defaulters, such as home searches, seizure of financial assets, and public auctions," adding, "We will continue to strive for the establishment of a healthy tax payment culture and the realization of tax justice."
