Ukrainian forces have reportedly launched their first attack on Russian mainland using the US long-range missile ATACMS, according to Ukrainian media outlet RBC Ukraine, citing military officials on the 19th (local time).
Earlier, the US government authorized Ukraine to use its domestically produced long-range ATACMS missiles to strike targets inside Russian territory.
According to foreign media including AFP, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that "Ukraine will never surrender to occupying forces, and the Russian military will be held accountable for violations of international law."
Russia remains determined to continue the war. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "The military operation against Ukraine is ongoing," adding, "Western support cannot affect the outcome of our operation."
