Visit to Low-Income Elderly Households in Hayang-eup
Daegu Catholic University and Daegu Haany University visited two low-income elderly households in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan-si on the 19th to carry out briquette sharing volunteer activities.
Seong Han-gi, president of Daegu Catholic University, and Byeon Chang-hoon, president of Daegu Han Medical University, along with about 60 students and staff from both universities, are delivering briquettes in the alleyways.
About 60 students and faculty members from the two universities, including Seong Han-gi, president of Daegu Catholic University, and Byeon Chang-hoon, president of Daegu Haany University, participated in the volunteer activity, carefully delivering briquettes one by one in alleyways where vehicles could not enter.
Daegu Catholic University provided a total of 5,000 briquettes to 10 elderly households in the Hayang-eup area, while Daegu Haany University supported a total of 3,500 briquettes to 7 elderly households in the Gyeongsan area.
The Daegu Catholic University Sarang Nanum Volunteer Group and the Daegu Haany University Girin Volunteer Group have been jointly conducting briquette sharing volunteer activities annually in the Gyeongsan area since 2014.
President Seong Han-gi said, “This sharing has been a great opportunity to practice love and service,” adding, “I hope that despite the chilly weather, people can feel warmth in their hearts and spirits.”
