Establishment of Joint Lab with Industrial CT Equipment, Utilization in Shipbuilding, Machinery, Defense, etc.
Pusan National University and the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the afternoon of the 19th at the Pusan National University Main Administration Building to collaborate on the joint use of equipment and technology development for the smartization of key industries in the southeastern region, including machinery, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will establish a foundation for the joint use of the latest CT equipment and work together to enhance research capabilities through shared utilization.
The industrial CT equipment to be installed (equipment price: 1 billion KRW) is equipped with excellent analytical capabilities and is expected to be used for research and analysis across a wide range of fields, including the existing machinery sector as well as aerospace, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
According to the agreement, Pusan National University will provide the location and professional personnel for operating the equipment and will establish a joint research facility called the ‘Joint Lab’ with the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute to support researchers in conducting collaborative research in various fields such as shipbuilding, machinery, and defense.
Choi Jae-won, President of Pusan National University, said, “I am grateful for the cooperation of the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute, which has agreed to move forward together for the future of the College of Engineering at Pusan National University, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.” He added, “The collaboration between Pusan National University and the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute is expected to significantly enhance the competitiveness of Korea’s shipbuilding industry and contribute greatly to future defense and warship development.”
Seo Yong-seok, Director of the Small and Medium Shipbuilding Research Institute, responded, “This agreement will be an important opportunity to promote the smartization of the shipbuilding industry and accelerate innovation in production technology across the entire shipbuilding sector.” He added, “Through cooperation with Pusan National University, we aim to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional shipbuilding industry.”
