Recognition of Efforts to Improve Traffic Culture Including the 'Visiting Senior Citizens Traffic Safety Class'
Busan's Gijang-gun was selected as an excellent institution by receiving the Encouragement Award in the '2024 Comprehensive Evaluation of the Transportation Sector' recently conducted for 16 districts and counties of Busan City.
This evaluation was promoted by Busan City to share excellent transportation policies and major initiatives by region through an assessment of 25 items across 7 areas related to the overall transportation administration work of each district and county throughout the year.
The county received high scores in most areas, including ▲promotion of traffic culture campaigns and expansion of traffic safety facilities ▲implementation of the weekday car restriction system and imposition and collection of traffic generation charges ▲activation of bicycle and other usage ▲expansion of parking spaces and crackdown on illegal parking ▲enforcement and fine collection related to automobiles ▲number of traffic accident fatalities and reduction measures ▲and contribution to policy collaboration, thereby gaining external recognition for its advanced transportation administration capabilities.
In particular, the special policy project 'Visiting Senior Citizens Traffic Safety Class' was highly evaluated for contributing to the improvement of traffic culture by conducting customized traffic safety education tailored to the needs of education recipients and carrying out traffic safety campaigns and citizen education a total of 43 times.
Additionally, the county stood out in the facility maintenance field by investing more than 200 million KRW in new installations of various traffic safety facilities such as crosswalks, floodlights, and safety fences, and continuously maintaining facilities for traffic safety.
Jeong Jong-bok, the county governor, said, “This award externally recognized Gijang-gun’s efforts to build a safe transportation infrastructure,” and added, “We will create a safe and pleasant transportation environment by promoting traffic safety policies that residents can feel.”
