Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 19th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 18th with Zero Gravity Corporation (hereinafter Zero-G) of the United States to cooperate on the designation of the Goyang Free Economic Zone and the creation of an aerospace industry cluster.

Zero-G is an aerospace specialized company headquartered in Florida, USA, providing services related to the aerospace industry. Through FAA-approved zero-gravity parabolic flights that create a zero-gravity environment, it conducts businesses such as astronaut training, zero-gravity space tourism experiences for the general public, and media production.


Additionally, Zero-G collaborates with NASA on various research projects in zero-gravity conditions, playing a crucial role in the advancement of space science and the development of space exploration technologies.


Recently, Goyang Special City has been promoting the aerospace industry as one of the core strategic industries for creating an innovative ecosystem in the Goyang Free Economic Zone, signing MOUs with Korea Aerospace University and Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology to revitalize smart mobility and the aerospace industry.


Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City and Mathew Gohd, Chairman of Zero-G, who attended the signing ceremony, agreed that this MOU for establishing an aerospace industry cluster within the Goyang Free Economic Zone will be an important first step illuminating the future of Goyang Special City and the aerospace industry.


Mathew Gohd, Chairman of Zero-G, stated, “This agreement will mark the first step for Goyang City to become a milestone in space experience programs. We plan to establish zero-gravity R&D facilities in Goyang and promote cooperation with universities and companies to foster the development of the aerospace industry.”


Goyang Special City expects that building a cooperative relationship with Zero-G will accelerate the revitalization of the aerospace industry and maximize the potential of the Goyang Free Economic Zone. Furthermore, through synergy effects with Korea Aerospace University and Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, which are cooperating in promoting the aerospace industry, the city plans to leap forward as a hub of the aerospace industry.


Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “The aerospace industry is a new future growth engine that will lead the global economy. We are very pleased to establish a cooperative relationship with Zero-G, a globally recognized aerospace specialized company,” and added, “I hope the MOU between Goyang Special City and Zero-G will serve as an opportunity to share experiences and knowledge and create an innovative ecosystem for the aerospace industry. We also look forward to the day when zero-gravity tourism will be possible in Goyang Special City.”
