Foundation Establishment in Full Swing: A New Turning Point for Education in Hapcheon
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam held a founding general meeting for the establishment of the "Hapcheon County Talent Development Foundation" at the county office's large conference room.
The general meeting was attended by 16 people, including County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol, County Council Chairman Jeong Bong-hoon, Education Director Kim Gap-jin, founding members, and the first executives, taking an important first step toward establishing the foundation.
The Hapcheon County Education Development Committee, a corporation that has been at the center of educational development and talent cultivation in Hapcheon County since 2001, will newly launch as a foundation through this founding general meeting, presenting a new vision for regional educational development.
At the general meeting, key matters necessary for the establishment of the foundation were discussed, including the adoption of the establishment purpose statement, confirmation of the articles of incorporation and executives, appointment of the chairman of the board, determination of the endowment, and review of the business plan and budget.
Since 2021, Hapcheon County has carried out preliminary procedures for the foundation's establishment, such as feasibility studies, consultations with the Provincial Office of Education, and the enactment of related ordinances. In particular, in August, the Executive Recommendation Committee held two meetings to complete the recruitment and selection of executives, laying the organizational groundwork.
The foundation is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2025 after obtaining establishment approval from the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, corporate registration, and designation and notification procedures by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
During a free discussion session, the founding members and executives expressed their aspirations for talent development and educational advancement in Hapcheon, proposing plans for discovering and nurturing local talents and improving the educational environment to bridge the educational gap with urban areas, committing to fulfilling the foundation’s purpose and serving as a cradle for nurturing talents in Hapcheon County.
Governor Kim Yoon-cheol emphasized, “The establishment of the foundation will play an important role in nurturing talents who will lead the future of Hapcheon County and the Republic of Korea,” adding, “We will establish the foundation and actively support students so that they can realize their dreams and grow into outstanding talents.”
