The Pocheon City Carbon Neutral Green Growth Basic Plan is a statutory plan established in accordance with the "Basic Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth in Response to the Climate Crisis." The basic plan includes the local environmental status of Pocheon City, the status of greenhouse gas emissions and absorption, mid- to long-term greenhouse gas reduction targets, and strategies and implementation measures for reducing greenhouse gases in Pocheon City over ten years from 2025 to 2034.
The drafted basic plan is scheduled to be finalized after consulting with the Korea Environment Corporation and deliberation by the Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee. The city plans to conduct annual implementation inspections starting in 2026 to ensure the effectiveness of the plan.
Vice Mayor Kim Jong-hoon stated, "Achieving the carbon neutrality goal requires active cooperation among departments and participation from citizens," adding, "Pocheon City will continue to discover greenhouse gas reduction projects tailored to the characteristics of Pocheon, as well as sector-specific greenhouse gas reduction strategies."
