Understanding Nuclear Industry Trends, Discussing Vocational High School Employment
Curriculum Reorganization for Related Departments and School Opening Preparations
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has begun full-scale preparations for the establishment of the "(tentative name) Busan Nuclear High School" by meeting with related companies and analyzing industry trends.
Busan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoon-soo) announced on the 19th that it visited Samhong Machinery, a company developing SMRs (Small Modular Reactors), and Doosan Enerbility, a specialized company in the nuclear and energy sectors, on the 13th.
This visit was intended to understand the current status of the nuclear high school establishment project promoted by the city education office and to discuss employment linkage for vocational high school students in the Busan area.
On the morning of the visit, the city education office visited the headquarters of Samhong Machinery, a partner company of Doosan Enerbility. Superintendent Ha Yoon-soo, CEO Kim Seung-won, and other officials from the education office and Samhong Machinery exchanged opinions related to the nuclear industry.
They discussed the nuclear industry's heavy influence by government policies, the advantages of SMRs (Small Modular Reactors), and job roles that vocational high school students can be employed in, followed by a tour of the industrial site.
Subsequently, Kim Hyun-gu, Director of Digital Future Education at the Busan Office of Education, along with the responsible superintendent and education officers, visited Doosan Enerbility and met with related personnel including Kim Min-gyu, Manager of the Technical HR Team.
They exchanged views on the company's internal retraining methods after employee selection, and on hiring personnel from Meister High Schools and specialized high schools in nuclear fields such as welding and processing. In particular, they expressed a strong willingness to actively cooperate in communication between the education office and the nuclear industry regarding the establishment of the nuclear high school.
Starting with this visit, the Busan Office of Education plans to actively promote the establishment of the nuclear high school. They will begin organizing curricula for the reorganization of nuclear-related departments and prepare for early school opening, while regularly monitoring related industry trends and manpower supply status.
