Baemin Supports 'Food Safety Net for Vulnerable Groups' Through Impact Investment

Baemin-Nabiyam Supports Meal Vouchers for 600 Children Facing Food Insecurity

Baedal Minjok has partnered with the preliminary social enterprise NabiYam to support children at risk of food insecurity.

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 19th that they will hold a gift card giveaway event where users can purchase meal vouchers for children certified with the Child Meal Card on the NabiYam app. By solving a hidden sentence quiz on the campaign page within the NabiYam app, the first 100 people each day, totaling 600 people, will receive a 20,000 KRW gift card each.

NabiYam is a service that connects children at risk of food insecurity with meal support restaurants to address the inconveniences of the existing offline-based Child Meal Card system. When users certify their Child Meal Card on the NabiYam app, they can purchase meal vouchers from participating restaurants. Restaurants listed on the app offer discounted menus to children at risk of food insecurity and can receive donation receipts. The entire donation process is digitized, allowing donors and beneficiaries to be matched transparently, which has been highly regarded.

In September last year, Woowa Brothers made an impact investment by designating 1.5 billion KRW to Korea Social Investment, a public interest corporation and impact investment firm. Impact investment refers to investing not only to seek financial returns but also to support businesses or enterprises that have a positive social or environmental impact. Through this investment, Woowa Brothers participated in the fund ‘Gaia Social Service Investment Association,’ which supports innovative companies in the social service sector.

Woowa Brothers plans to continue projects that create sustainable partnerships for local food security and achieve tangible results through the fund. Kim Jung-hyun, Head of Value Management at Woowa Brothers, stated, “Through this collaboration, we plan to help more children eligible for the Child Meal Card become aware of the NabiYam service and utilize meal support delivered through various channels. We also aim to discover innovative companies in various social service fields through the fund and spread positive influence throughout our society.”
