Ministry of SMEs and Startups Holds '2024 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation' Performance Sharing Meeting

18 Outstanding Collaborative Companies Receive Minister of SMEs and Startups Award

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 19th that it held the '2024 Public-Private Partnership Open Innovation Performance Sharing Event' to promote the spread of open innovation achievements.


Public-private partnership open innovation is a win-win cooperation project aimed at discovering and connecting collaboration demands between large corporations and startups, and activating open innovation among companies through follow-up government support. This event consisted of various programs to spread open innovation achievements, including the opening ceremony and awards for startup representatives in the first part, followed by presentations of excellent collaboration cases in the second part.


At the first part of the opening ceremony attended by key government and private sector officials, the Minister of SMEs and Startups presented commendations and awards to outstanding collaborative startup companies and large corporations, and held a ceremony symbolizing open innovation through public-private cooperation.

In the second part, presentations of excellent collaboration cases by companies that won awards in each category at the integrated competition held last October, panel talks, and expert lectures were arranged.


In particular, Crabble, selected for SK Energy’s collaboration project titled ‘AI Geographic Information System Gas Detection Solution Using Autonomous Robots,’ is improving the gas detection solution already established at SK Energy’s business sites for major accident prevention by utilizing autonomous robot solutions and ultra-precise positioning solutions. This is expected to lead to broad market expansion in the domestic major accident prevention sector.


Regarding Hoban Group’s collaboration project ‘Cloud-based Smart Hotel Platform Construction,’ DoWhat is developing a platform to strengthen contactless services using mobile check-in/out functions within Hoban Hotel & Resort. Through this, they are seeking to expand service supply to Hoban Group’s business sites and explore overseas expansion.


Additionally, for Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s project ‘Optimal Combination Drug Structure Analysis and Drug Effect Simulation for Anticancer New Drug Development,’ Vasgen Bio is applying AI-based new drug development solutions to discover and verify effective targets before clinical development of anticancer drugs.


Kim Sung-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, “Open innovation has now become an essential process, not a choice, for corporate growth as a key axis of co-growth between large corporations and startups,” and “The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will continue to serve as a connecting link for collaboration and focus its policy support capabilities to enable large corporations and startups to create tangible results in open innovation.”
