The 2nd Fintech Open Networking Day Held
The Financial Services Commission announced on the 19th that it held the "2nd Fintech Open Networking Day" event at the Seoul Mapo Startup Hub, where fintech (finance + technology) companies, financial institutions, investment organizations, and other members of the fintech industry gathered.
This event, hosted by the Financial Services Commission together with members of the fintech industry, was planned to explore collaboration opportunities in the digital finance sector and to expand investment attraction. It is also being developed as a platform for participants to share information and network.
Before the main event, Financial Services Commission Chairman Kim Byung-hwan held a private preliminary meeting with fintech lab managers from financial holding companies and representatives of the fintech industry. The companies shared their experiences and challenges regarding startup and growth through fintech lab incubation and investment.
Based on the opinions from the meeting, Chairman Kim stated that regulations on equity investment and consignment would be improved to facilitate fintech investment expansion and collaboration. He pointed out the need to review the electronic financial system and digital certification system to ensure legal stability in authentication, data, and artificial intelligence (AI) fields, which actively collaborate with payment services. He also announced plans to support overseas expansion, including participation in domestic and international fintech expos, for outstanding fintech companies discovered through the overseas business networks of financial holding companies and IR opportunities with investment firms.

The event consisted of lectures, reverse proposals from investment institutions, consultation booths, and free networking sessions. The lectures covered this year’s fintech industry trends and the use of generative AI in the financial sector in response to regulatory environment changes such as network separation. During the reverse proposal session, four "Fintech Innovation Fund entrusted operators" (Daily Partners, NICE Investment Partners, Magellan Technology Investment, and DT&I Investment) shared the purpose of fund formation, investment scale, targets, and fund management strategies.
Financial institutions and others operated 16 consultation booths. At the booths, financial institutions and investment organizations conducted direct consultations with fintech companies to continue discussions on collaboration and investment, while leader mentor companies shared investment attraction know-how and growth experiences with early-stage fintech companies.
Hwang Byung-woo, Chairman of DGB Financial Group and co-host of the event, said, “I hope this becomes a ‘platform of opportunity’ where cross-industry collaboration ideas develop into businesses, strengthening a virtuous cycle where the entire financial sector progresses together.”
In addition to this semiannual event, the Financial Services Commission plans to continue various events to provide continuous exchange opportunities for fintech ecosystem members, such as the public fintech expo "Korea Fintech Week" and the "Financial Institution-Fintech Mutual Meeting" event.
