Hyundai Construction Proposes Complex Name ‘THE H HANGANG’

Hyundai Engineering & Construction Partners with Zaha Hadid Architects to Unveil 'The H Han River'

Hyundai Construction announced on the 19th that it has proposed the complex name ‘THE H HANGANG’ for Hannam District 4, which is being built by the world-renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects. It is characterized by embodying the architectural philosophy of Zaha Hadid, a Pritzker Prize laureate. In 2004, Zaha Hadid became the first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize, known as the Nobel Prize of architecture, and gained fame for her designs emphasizing curved beauty.

Zaha Hadid boldly departed from the existing linear design to realize the curved beauty symbolizing the waves of the Han River and the ridges of Namsan, proposing 88,000 curved aluminum panels. The number of buildings was reduced from the original 51 to 29 to minimize interference between households, and the main buildings were arranged with a 45˚ rotation so that all households could enjoy views of the Han River, Namsan, and Yongsan Park.

For the 1,318 medium-to-large units, a terrace-specialized floor plan will be applied. All members can 100% choose from various terrace styles such as protruding terraces, open terraces, and pocket terraces.

The double sky bridge, which stretches 300 meters?the longest length along the Han River?also enhances the prestige of the complex. The 190-meter bridge connecting three buildings and the 110-meter bridge connecting two buildings were designed reflecting Zaha Hadid’s design philosophy emphasizing curved beauty. The double sky bridge, the longest and most distinctive curved design in South Korea, will not only highlight the complex’s exterior but is also expected to establish Hannam District 4 as a premium landmark along the Han River.

Hyundai Construction announced plans to create a ‘THE H Brand Town’ by linking Hannam District 4 with Hannam District 3’s ‘THE H Hannam.’ A Hyundai Construction official stated, “We will harmoniously incorporate the curves of the Han River, the natural beauty of Namsan, and the widely spread park to build a new landmark along the Han River.”
