Secrets to Maintaining No.1 Premium OLED TV Position
LG Electronics' OLED TVs have been consecutively selected as the 'Best TV of the Year' by leading media outlets in the UK and the US. They received high praise for their high luminance (screen brightness) and excellent contrast ratio. LG Electronics plans to provide customers with a differentiated viewing experience based on its artificial intelligence (AI) processor and OLED technology.
According to LG Electronics on the 19th, the 2024 LG OLED Evo (G4) was recently named the 'Best TV of the Year' in the 'TV Shootout' conducted by the UK media outlet 'HD TV Test.' The TV Shootout is a ranking determined by a panel of video experts who conduct blind tests on TV picture quality. The G4 received high evaluations compared to competing products in detailed categories such as color accuracy, high dynamic range (HDR) performance, and upscaling performance, earning the overall first place. The media outlet commented that the G4 "maintains high luminance and excellent contrast even in bright environments."
The LG OLED Evo (C4) was selected as the 'Best 48-50 inch TV of the Year' by the UK media outlet 'What Hi-Fi.' The outlet stated that it "features outstanding picture quality and unmatched functionality."
Positive reviews from US media also followed. The US media outlet 'Digital Trends' ranked the G4 and C4 as the first and second in its 'Top 6 OLED TVs of the Year.' The outlet praised the G4, saying, "(Following its predecessor G3) LG has done it again," and added, "I was completely captivated by the G4’s high luminance, breathtaking color reproduction, and next-level HDR performance."
The US media outlet 'How-To Geek' selected the C4 as the 'Best OLED TV of the Year.' The outlet described it as "a fantastic TV that will satisfy nearly every viewer," and said it "delivers intense and vivid images with outstanding luminance." The C4 was also named 'Best 50-inch TV of the Year' and 'Best 43-inch TV of the Year' by the US media outlet 'Tom's Guide.' The outlet noted, "It offers amazing picture quality as well as the best gaming performance in its class."
LG OLED TVs have received high evaluations not only from tech-specialized media but also from consumer media worldwide. They swept first-place ratings from consumer media in 14 countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, and Canada. Consumer media are highly trusted as they purchase products directly from the market without manufacturer support for testing.
LG Electronics explained that the consistent positive reviews for LG OLED TVs are largely due to over 10 years of accumulated OLED expertise combined with the newly applied AI chipset 'Alpha 11 Processor' this year. The Alpha 11 Processor significantly enhances graphics performance and processing speed based on AI deep learning performance improved up to four times compared to last year. It analyzes video on a pixel-by-pixel basis, with AI independently judging and clarifying blurry objects and backgrounds. It also corrects colors considering the atmosphere and emotions intended by the video creators based on frequently used colors.
OLED TVs have also established themselves as representative premium TV products. According to market research firm Omdia, the sales share of OLED TVs in the global premium TV market (priced at $1,500 or approximately 2.09 million KRW and above) in the first half of this year rose by 13 percentage points year-on-year to about 45%. In the North American and European markets, it exceeded 60%, setting an all-time high record. LG Electronics continues to hold the number one position with a 53% market share by shipment volume in the OLED TV market.
Meanwhile, the 2025 LG OLED TV, scheduled to be unveiled at the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition 'CES 2025' held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 7 to 10 next year (local time), has won a total of six innovation awards, including the highest innovation award in the video display and picture quality categories among the 'CES Innovation Awards.'
Jung Jae-cheol, head of LG Electronics' HE (Home Entertainment) Research Center, said, "Based on a more powerful AI processor and industry-leading OLED technology, we will provide customers worldwide with a viewing experience on a different level."
