A woman in her 70s was fined for assaulting a delivery worker for not holding the elevator door closed at an apartment in Incheon.


On the 18th, the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 14 (Judge Gong Woo-jin) announced that A (77), who was tried on charges of assault and obstruction of business, was sentenced to a fine of 1 million won with a one-year probation period.

A is accused of striking delivery worker B (31) multiple times on the back with her hand on May 16 last year at around 5:20 p.m. in an apartment in Simgok-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, because B did not hold the elevator door closed.


Additionally, A followed B, who was trying to avoid the assault, and verbally abused him, and also pushed B’s shoulder and chest several times. She is also accused of obstructing B’s work for 18 minutes by physically blocking the delivery vehicle B was moving for delivery work and holding the driver’s door with her hand to prevent B from getting into the vehicle.


The court explained the sentencing by stating, "The victim’s testimony on key points is detailed and consistent," and "It generally aligns with other objective evidence, confirming the defendant’s criminal acts."
