Artist Woo Myungseok's 'Morning of Hope' Wins Gold Award
Pohang City successfully concluded the '16th Pohang National Tourism Photography Contest,' held from the 14th to the 17th.
This event was hosted by Pohang City and the Pohang Arts Federation, and organized by the Pohang branch of the Korea Photographers Association.
The contest attracted a diverse range of Pohang tourism photos from across the country, with a total of 255 entries competing fiercely. The final selections included ▲1 Gold Prize ▲2 Silver Prizes ▲2 Bronze Prizes ▲5 Honorable Mentions ▲5 Encouragement Awards ▲30 Selected Works.
Notably, the work "Morning of Hope" by photographer Woo Myung-seok captured Pohang’s natural scenery from a fresh perspective, earning high praise from the judges and the honor of the Gold Prize.

This piece was shot at Yeongildae Beach, a beach located in the city center, featuring the seaside pavilion and a rose garden as the backdrop during sunrise. It highlighted Pohang’s iconic landscapes, enhancing the city’s beauty and charm.
Seo Jae-won, Political Affairs Special Advisor, stated, “This contest reaffirmed how diverse and attractive Pohang’s tourism resources are,” adding, “The Gold Prize-winning work will become a representative piece that can inspire many tourists.”
The winning works from this competition will be used as key materials for future Pohang tourism marketing. The award-winning photos will be actively utilized to enhance Pohang’s city brand value by being featured in various tourism promotional materials and on the cultural tourism website.
