With a budget of 900 million KRW, this project aims to achieve zero traffic accidents in school zones and create safe zones for children by implementing △ sidewalk extensions in front of school gates △ improvements to raised intersections △ installation of diagonal crosswalks △ maintenance of pedestrian fences △ road and sidewalk repairs △ and smart safety facilities such as red residual time display devices.
Hanam City has made efforts to ensure perfect child traffic safety by operating the local traffic safety council, receiving technical reviews from the Hanam Police Station and the Road Traffic Authority, conducting parent surveys and project briefings, and actively reflecting the opinions of local residents across various fields.
A Hanam City official stated, “We plan to continuously expand smart safety facilities to achieve zero traffic accidents in school zones and will do our best to serve as a model for other local governments.”
Meanwhile, in 2023, the city carried out school zone improvement projects at three locations: Dongbu Elementary, Hanam Elementary, and Sangok Elementary Schools.
