Supply of 192,971㎡ Including Medical Facility Sites and Mixed-Use Residential-Commercial Sites
Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 18th that it is recruiting a developer for the 'Comprehensive Hospital Construction Package Development Project' to build a general hospital and residential-commercial complex in the Dongtan 2 New Town development district in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.
This public offering is the first model in a new town to supply medical facility land and residential-commercial complex land as a package to encourage private sector participation. The project prioritizes the construction of a general hospital to improve the health of new town residents and enhance access to medical services.
The public offering targets a total of four blocks (covering 192,971㎡) in Hwaseong Dongtan 2: medical facility land (Medical 1), urban support facility land (Support 77), and residential-commercial complex lands (C32, C33), which will be supplied as a single bidding unit.
The medical facility land is located 1.5 km in a straight line from Dongtan Station, raising expectations that it will become a medical hub for the southern metropolitan area.
LH plans to review development and operation plans for each block, including the medical complex town, as well as the schedule for constructing the general hospital to ensure rapid hospital construction. Medical corporations currently operating general hospitals with at least 700 beds must participate in the bidding.
The bidding process starts with the announcement on the 18th, followed by a project briefing session on the 22nd, submission of participation commitment letters by the 10th of next month, submission of project applications in February next year, and selection of the preferred negotiator in March next year. An LH official stated, "Once a general hospital is built in Dongtan New Town, it will not only improve residents' access to medical services but also attract various medical professionals, which is expected to create jobs and attract related industries in the region."
Meanwhile, on the 18th, LH and Hwaseong City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to attract a general hospital to Dongtan 2 New Town and revitalize the local area.
