Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, Successfully Hosts Dream Start Family Gathering

Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it held the ‘2024 Gwangju Dream Start Family Harmony’ event on the 16th at Namiseom Island in Chuncheon-myeon, Gangwon Province.

A total of 67 participants, including families from Gwangju Dream Start, took part in the ‘Family Memory Making’ experience.

The ‘Family Memory Making’ experience involved taking family commemorative photos and making photo frames while enjoying the deepening autumn atmosphere of Namiseom Island. It was organized to promote the emotional development of Dream Start children and create a healthy parenting environment.

A single parent who participated in the event shared, “We made unforgettable memories such as enjoying the autumn foliage, boat rides, and making family photos, escaping from our busy daily lives.”

An official from the city stated, “We planned this family experience event to support the happiness of children from vulnerable groups and proper parenting. We will continue to discover various welfare services to realize ‘Hopeful Change, Happy City Gwangju.’”

Meanwhile, the city operates the Dream Start team, which focuses on case management for children from vulnerable groups, and runs various programs aimed at promoting holistic development in physical, cognitive, emotional, and parenting environments for children.
