Solo Album 'Happy' Release Celebration Fan Showcase Success
"Waiting Brings Happiness" Celebrating the Album with ARMY
"ARMY (BTS fandom name), I have been waiting for the day to meet you. I am someone who becomes happy when ARMY is happy. I thought about making an album that can make you happy. Now, let's go be happy!"
Jin, the eldest member of the group BTS, held a fan showcase titled 'Jin 'Happy' Special Stage' on the afternoon of the 17th at Jangchung Arena in Jung-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of his first solo album 'Happy' since his debut. During the 90-minute stage, Jin greeted ARMY with his signature smile and delivered a meeting full of 'happiness.'
Since the showcase was held to commemorate the release of the solo album ‘Happy,’ Jin performed all the tracks from the album live with band arrangements. He also communicated with fans through various segments throughout the stage.
Appearing as the stage curtain opened to the band's performance, Jin said, “This time, I am filled with a pleasant nervousness because my solo album ‘Happy’ has been released,” and warmly greeted the fans filling the audience, saying, “Since this album was made for ARMY, I came out today fully determined to make you happy.”
For the first stage, Jin passionately sang the album’s title track 'Running Wild,' and fans sang along, raising the energy of the venue to its peak. He then showcased his solid vocals with rock genre songs such as ‘Until It Reaches You,’ ‘Another Level,’ and ‘I’ll Be There.’
During the performance of 'Missing You,' a gentle piano accompaniment created a completely different atmosphere, and Jin conveyed deep emotions with his heartfelt voice. ARMY also created a picturesque scene by turning on their phone lights and waving them.
Most notably, Jin captured attention by presenting a presentation directly to ARMY about the overall production of the album 'Happy.' He explained the reason for naming the album ‘Happy,’ saying, "I thought I should put making ARMY happy into the album," and added special touches by sharing behind-the-scenes stories and production episodes related to each track, saying, "When I think of happiness, I think of BTS, sleep, ARMY, and food." He then asked, "I believe that greater happiness can come only if we are happy together. I plan to work hard to achieve this goal, and ARMY will join me, right?"
On the last day of the fan showcase, Red Velvet’s Wendy made a surprise appearance on stage and performed a duet of ‘Heart on the Window (with Wendy).’ The beautiful harmony created by the representative male and female vocalists of K-pop was met with emotional cheers from the audience. Wendy shared her thoughts, saying, “When I first heard the song, I really liked it. Usually, I sing in front of our fans, but singing in front of ARMY like this feels like a re-debut. I am grateful to be part of such a great album.”
Jin revealed the recording episode, saying, "A friend of mine knew Wendy’s number and asked if I could just call her once. Then I said, 'Hello, Wendy, this is Jin from BTS, do you know me?' and she said yes. So I asked, 'The album is coming out, and I want to do a duet with you, how about it?' and she said 'That sounds great.' After that, everything proceeded smoothly and quickly."
After singing all the tracks on the album, Jin performed his previously released solo songs ‘Super Tuna,’ ‘Moon,’ and the single ‘The Astronaut’ one after another, receiving great cheers. Toward the end of the performance, Jin shared his special meaning about his first solo album, ARMY, and happiness, saying, “We experience tremendous happiness in our lives. I thought that happiness was the end, but beyond that, there was another happiness. I thought that was the end, but yet another happiness was waiting. I think if we wait, happiness will come to you once again.”
A total of 3,800 ARMY from around the world attended Jin’s fan showcase held over two days on the 16th and 17th. The event was also broadcast live on the fan platform Weverse, attracting global fans’ attention.
