Hyundai Motor Company has achieved the overall championship in the driver category at the global touring car competition, the '2024 TCR World Tour.'
On the 18th, Hyundai announced that the 'Elantra N TCR' (known domestically as Avante N TCR) secured the overall championship at the final round of the 2024 TCR World Tour held in Macau from the 14th to the 17th (local time). Hyundai claimed victory for the second consecutive year following last year.
Norbert Michelisz, who competed with the Elantra N TCR race car, earned a total of 49 points at this Macau event. Michelisz finished the year with a total of 323 points in the driver category, becoming the driver champion for two consecutive years.
The TCR World Tour is a 'Customer Racing' competition where manufacturers are prohibited from direct participation, and professional racing teams that purchase manufacturer race cars compete. The TCR World Tour is regarded as the top global competition, with approximately 40 TCR series events held worldwide, including continental and national championships.
The TCR World Tour selects major races from TCR events held worldwide and determines rankings based on points earned from race results. This year, races were held in Italy, Morocco, the United States, Brazil, Uruguay, China, and Macau.

The final rounds of the TCR World Tour, TCR China, and TCR Asia series were conducted without separate races; all drivers participating in the three series competed together in the same race in Macau, with overall points calculated separately for each series.
Martin Cao of the Hyundai N team, who participated in the final round of the TCR China series, secured first place in the 2024 season driver category. This marks his second consecutive overall driver championship since competing in 2023.
Zhang Zhen Dong, who competed in the TCR Asia series, won the first final race and maintained his overall first place in the 2024 season driver category.
Hyundai not only achieved overall championships in all three series but also had the highest number of vehicles participating in the series. Among the 32 cars entered in this competition, 12 were Avante N TCRs.
A Hyundai official stated, "We are pleased to have achieved excellent results in various global TCR competitions, including the TCR World Tour and the N?rburgring 24 Hours, again this year. Especially with the overall driver category championships in three series achieved in Macau, we will continue to bring good news to N brand and motorsports fans."
