Health Recharge at Yeongju Lake West

The "2024 Yeongju Dam National Healthy Walking Competition," sponsored by Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, and the Korea Water Resources Corporation, and hosted and organized by the Yeongju City Sports Council, was held around Yeongju Dam on the 16th.


This event, organized to widely promote the beautiful natural environment and tourist resources of Yeongju Dam and to revitalize the local area, was attended by about 6,000 participants from across the country.

On the day, participants started from the Dongho Residential Complex Samgeori in the morning, walked past Yongmi Bridge, Yongdu Bridge, and Yongmaru 2 Park, and reached Pyeongeun Station as the turnaround point, enjoying the autumn atmosphere of Yeongju Lake.


This event, which offered various prizes and souvenirs, received positive responses from family participants and walking enthusiasts. The operation of shuttle buses and free on-site registration were also well received.


Park Nam-seo, mayor of Yeongju City, said on site, "This walking competition was a meaningful occasion to appreciate at a glance the waterfront scenery of Yeongju Dam, which contributes not only to flood damage reduction but also to tourism promotion, while taking care of our health." He added, "We will prepare various events centered around Yeongju Dam to provide enjoyment to citizens and visitors."
