Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will host exhibitions by 10 teams of young artists selected through a public contest continuously until March at the Culture Experiment Space Hosu (Songpanaru-gil 256).

At the ‘Culture Experiment Space Hosu,’ fresh and diverse art exhibitions are held throughout the year. The district operates this space with the purpose of providing local young artists an opportunity to showcase their artistic world through exhibitions, and offering local residents a broad cultural and artistic experience. It is highly popular among young artists as a ‘cradle of dreams’ where they can freely express their creativity.

This exhibition stage features artists selected through the ‘Culture Experiment Space Hosu: 2024 Young Artists Exhibition Contest’ held last August.

With strong enthusiasm from young artists, 40 teams applied, and the district finally selected 10 teams. The selected artists, mainly those active in or residing in Songpa-gu, represent various genres such as Western painting, crafts, and illustration.

The relay began with the exhibition ‘Sensing Colors’ by artists Shin Han-seul and Shin Ye-eun. From October 8 to November 3, they showcased media, video, and Western painting works.

From November 19 to December 1, for 13 days, the exhibition ‘Emotion Pouch’ will follow. Western painter Won Yoo-jin and illustrator Jung Soo-hyun will reveal 30 charming and cute works reflecting their unique styles.

An educational experience program linked to the exhibition will also be operated. Participants can complete their own artwork by decorating a donut-shaped canvas together with artist Won Yoo-jin. Pre-registration is available on the ‘Seoul Public Service Reservation’ website.

The young artists’ relay exhibition contest will continue until March 9 next year. After artists Do Hyun-ji and Lee Min-hye, who will present Korean painting works, take over the exhibition baton in December, artists Baek Si-nae (crafts) and Jo Eun-hyeok (illustration) will exhibit in January, followed by Western painters Kim Na-rae and Lim Bo-ryeong concluding the exhibition in February.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “The Culture Experiment Space Hosu is a ‘cradle of dreams’ where various exhibitions continue with the spirit of supporting the steady artistic activities of young artists,” and added, “We ask for much interest in the stylish exhibitions by capable young artists who will lead the cultural and artistic scene of Songpa-gu.”
