Expansion of 68 Heated Seats at Bus Stops for Cold Wave Preparedness
Additional Bus Information Terminals (BIT) Installed at 7 Village Bus Stops to Enhance Convenience
Improvement of Congested Stops Including Large Bus Boarding Area in Front of Singil Station Exit 1
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will fully implement a project to improve the environment of bus stops in the area to enhance the convenience of public transportation use for residents.
According to the results of the ‘2023 Seoul Survey’ conducted among Seoul citizens, the satisfaction level with transportation methods in Yeongdeungpo-gu was found to be lower than the average of other districts.
In response, the district is making every effort to resolve residents' inconveniences and increase satisfaction with public transportation use by improving the overall environment of bus stops.
Currently, there are 57 heated seats installed at bus stops in the area. This year, 68 more will be added, raising the installation rate from 34% to 75%, supporting more residents to use the bus warmly even during cold winters.
Additionally, seven village bus stops will have Bus Information Terminals (BIT) newly installed to allow real-time checking of bus arrival information.
In particular, the waiting environment at the bus stop in front of Exit 1 of Singil Station, which has caused significant inconvenience to users, will be completely improved. Despite being a congested area where 14 routes stop, the boarding area is narrow and outdated, and the Bus Information Terminal (BIT) and accessibility are poor, leading to continuous demands for improvement from residents. Accordingly, a large Y-shaped boarding platform will be installed to reduce congestion and enhance user convenience in line with the site conditions.
Furthermore, the district will continue to improve village bus stop facilities next year. Seven boarding platforms, 20 Bus Information Terminals (BIT), and 25 heated seats will be additionally installed at village bus stops in the area, significantly enhancing convenience for passengers who use village buses, which generally have longer waiting times.
In addition, in July, to eliminate public transportation blind spots in the Mullae-dong 4-ga area, the village bus route ‘Yeongdeungpo 05’ was extended to improve transportation accessibility.
Also, CCTV for illegal parking enforcement was installed at newly established bus stops to ensure passenger safety during boarding and alighting.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Through recent meetings with residents, we have heard various opinions on improving bus stop facilities,” and added, “We will continue to improve the bus usage environment closely related to residents’ lives so that Yeongdeungpo-gu can firmly establish itself as a true transportation hub.”
