Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced through a safety disaster message on the 17th, "Due to the anticipated work-to-rule by the National Railroad Workers' Union starting on the 18th, some electric train operations may be delayed. Please take this into consideration when using the trains."
The Railroad Union is demanding ▲ a shift to a 4-team 2-shift system ▲ reinforcement of insufficient personnel needed for newly opened lines ▲ a 2.5% fixed increase in base salary ▲ normal payment of performance bonuses (resolution of 23.1 billion KRW in unpaid wages) ▲ introduction of a fair promotion system ▲ suspension of workforce reduction through outsourcing.
The Railroad Union plans to hold a press conference on the 21st to announce a general strike and intends to launch an indefinite general strike early next month.
