Gwangju Transportation Corporation announced on the 17th that it received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award in the ‘2024 Risk Assessment Best Practice Presentation Contest’ jointly hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, recognizing its proactive safety management efforts to prevent major accidents.
The ‘Risk Assessment Best Practice Presentation Contest’ is an industrial safety activity where employers identify and improve workplace hazards and risks together with workers. This year, 606 workplaces nationwide participated, and 12 companies were finally selected.
In particular, the corporation’s award is the first achievement among nationwide railway operators as well as local public enterprises, proving the excellence of Gwangju Urban Railway’s safety management.
At this year’s contest, the corporation received high praise for revealing its flawless safety management know-how, including the Safety Sentinel System where on-site workers proactively identify and address workplace hazards, joint on-site inspections with external experts, and company-wide sharing of risk assessment results to prevent similar cases.
Jo Ik-moon, President of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, said, “We are pleased to be recognized for prioritizing safety as our highest value and for our efforts in proactive risk factor management. We will continue to maintain vigilance and do our best to operate a safe urban railway without accidents through the establishment of a voluntary prevention system.”
