Jung-gu District in Seoul announced on the 17th that it conducted the career development program "My Dreaming Future" at Seoul National University’s Gwanak Campus this month for about 160 elementary and middle school students in the district.
On the 16th, about 80 fifth and sixth graders from elementary schools had a session where they learned the concepts of academics, majors, and careers by listening to a career special lecture by a Seoul National University professor and stories from their school days shared by SNU mentors.
On the 9th and 10th, about 80 first to third graders from middle schools visited the school and participated in a three-stage class covering self-understanding, career exploration, and career planning, which motivated them toward academic achievement and gave them time to think about specific career paths.
They also heard introductions to departments such as Computer Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and Media and Communication from 12 SNU student mentors, who shared why they chose their respective majors and how they prepared for them.
Jung-gu signed an agreement with Seoul National University’s Lifelong Education Institute in February last year to provide local students with opportunities to decide on their academic and career paths. This year, three programs?Visiting University, In-depth University Major Exploration, and My Dreaming Future?were conducted, receiving great responses from students and parents.
