Kim Dae-sik, Member of the National Assembly (People Power Party, Sasang District, Busan), met with Enkhbayar Nambar, former President of Mongolia (3rd term), at the 3rd Korea-Mongolia Future Strategy Forum on the 15th to discuss bilateral issues including exchanges in the field of education.
Kim's office announced on the 16th that it was a time to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and exchange broad views on exchanges and development in the field of education.
Kim explained the background, saying, “Mongolia has a large youth population and a high passion for education, so there are many opportunities to cooperate with our country,” and “Due to the decline in the school-age population, all domestic universities are eager to attract international students.”

On that day, Kim and former Mongolian President Enkhbayar Nambar revealed that they had an in-depth discussion on ways to support Mongolian students studying in Korea and to promote active academic exchanges between the two countries.
Kim Dae-sik said, “I learned a lot about Mongolia’s education and economic status during this conversation,” and added, “I will spare no effort to support education and cultural exchanges between the two countries at the National Assembly level so that they bring new challenges and opportunities to future generations.”
Kim is known as a representative “Mongolia expert,” having visited Mongolia as a special envoy of President Lee Myung-bak’s administration and interacted with key figures, and operated a delegation to attract Mongolian students when he was president of Gyeongnam Information College.
Meanwhile, on the same day, more than 20 people including the former Mongolian president, the Minister of Health and Welfare, and key figures from the economic and academic sectors visited Kumyang, a secondary battery manufacturing company headquartered in Busan, touring the promotional center and production facilities.
Kumyang owns mines in Mongolia, and the Mongolian delegation showed great interest in bilateral cooperation projects and reportedly engaged in concrete discussions.
The 3rd Korea-Mongolia Future Strategy Forum, held until the 16th, addresses the purpose of jointly promoting economic development in areas such as energy and resources through private sector exchanges. Hosted by the Anse Foundation, the event is taking place at the Chosun Beach Hotel with the participation of over 150 officials from both countries.
