The Role of 'Trump's Voice' in the Second Term of Power
Caroline Leavitt (27), who was the chief spokesperson for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, will take on the role of 'Trump’s voice' in his second term.
In a statement released on the 15th (local time), President-elect Trump said, "Caroline Leavitt did an amazing job as the chief spokesperson during a historic campaign," adding, "Caroline has proven to be an intelligent, resilient, and highly capable communications expert." He further stated, "I am confident that she will excel at the podium as a spokesperson and help deliver our message of 'Making America Great Again' to the American people."
Leavitt served as a spokesperson during the latter part of Trump’s first administration and was part of the White House communications team. After Trump’s unsuccessful bid for re-election in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, she left the White House and worked as communications director for Elise Stefanik, a close Trump ally and recently nominated U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. She ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives (New Hampshire) in the 2022 midterm elections but was defeated by the incumbent Democratic representative. Leavitt majored in journalism and political science at Saint Anselm College in the United States and also played softball during her college years.
Earlier, President-elect Trump announced that Steven Cheung, a Chinese-American who served as the senior spokesperson for the campaign, would be appointed as communications director overseeing the White House’s media strategy.
