On the 15th, Kim Junsu’s agency, Palm Tree Island, stated, "Kim Junsu has been suffering from continuous threats and mental distress by Ms. A for a long time, and to prevent further damage, he proactively decided to take legal action and filed a complaint."

They continued, "Following Kim Junsu’s proactive complaint, during the additional investigation process, the severity of Ms. A’s crimes was specifically revealed. Kim Junsu clearly states once again that he is the obvious victim in this case and bears no wrongdoing."

The agency explained, "Also, Kim Junsu has no connection whatsoever to Ms. A’s drug case, which was first reported. After Kim Junsu initially filed a complaint against Ms. A for extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, the police investigation revealed that Ms. A had additional drug-related offenses."

Furthermore, "Kim Junsu has no relation to these illegal activities and only learned of these facts belatedly through the case reports. The recorded audio files are merely private conversations and contain no inappropriate or misleading content. Ms. A illegally recorded private conversations between individuals as a means of threat," the agency asserted.

Kim Junsu’s agency added, "As Kim Junsu feared, the essence of the case has been distorted, and he is already caught up in unjust rumors. We cannot hide our deep sorrow regarding this, and we strongly request that the unfair criticism and secondary harm directed at Kim Junsu, the clear victim of this case, cease immediately."

According to the police investigation, female BJ Ms. A, affiliated with Sup (formerly AfreecaTV), recorded private conversations and voices after first meeting Kim Junsu in 2019 and threatened to spread them on social media. Ms. A is suspected of extorting approximately 840 million KRW from Kim Junsu over 101 occasions from September 2020 until last month.

On the 13th, the police applied for an arrest warrant against Ms. A on charges of extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. A law enforcement official said, "The nature of this case is very serious. Since multiple victims have been identified, we plan to conduct a strict investigation."

The following is the full second statement from Kim Junsu’s agency:

Hello, this is Palm Tree Island.

We would like to provide an additional statement regarding the recent incident involving our artist Kim Junsu.

Kim Junsu has been suffering from continuous threats and mental distress by Ms. A for a long time, and to prevent further damage, he proactively decided to take legal action and filed a complaint.

Following Kim Junsu’s proactive complaint, during the additional investigation process, the severity of Ms. A’s crimes was specifically revealed. Kim Junsu clearly states once again that he is the obvious victim in this case and bears no wrongdoing.

Also, Kim Junsu has no connection whatsoever to Ms. A’s drug case, which was first reported. After Kim Junsu initially filed a complaint against Ms. A for extortion under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, the police investigation revealed that Ms. A had additional drug-related offenses.

Kim Junsu has no relation to these illegal activities and only learned of these facts belatedly through the case reports.

In particular, the recorded audio files are merely private conversations and contain no inappropriate or misleading content. Ms. A illegally recorded private conversations between individuals as a means of threat.

Kim Junsu, worried about the possibility of unjust rumors due to his celebrity status, has endured mental distress from prolonged extortion threats. However, he courageously took legal action to prevent further damage and to rectify the situation.

As Kim Junsu feared, the essence of the case has been distorted, and he is already caught up in unjust rumors. We cannot hide our deep sorrow regarding this, and we strongly request that the unfair criticism and secondary harm directed at Kim Junsu, the clear victim of this case, cease immediately.

Furthermore, we plan to take strong action against the spread of false information, personal attacks, and malicious posts exploiting this incident. To protect the honor and rights of our artist, we are reviewing all legal measures, including actions against malicious commenters.

We promise once again to respond firmly without any compromise regarding this incident. Thank you.
