The Founding General Assembly of the Nuclear Industry Policy Research Institute: "Developing into a Private Think Tank for Nuclear Power"

A private think tank to comprehensively support nuclear industry policy has been launched. The Nuclear Industry Policy Research Institute announced on the 15th that it held its inaugural general meeting at the Central Tower in Seoul, attended by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Doosan Enerbility, and others.

At the general meeting, the corporate bylaws, board composition, and the 2025 business plan and budget were approved. Song Hajung, Chairman of the Private School Teachers' Pension Management Corporation, was elected as the first chairman of the Nuclear Industry Policy Research Institute. Thirteen directors were appointed, including Ahn Sejin, Director of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Hwang Juho, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power; Kim Jongdu, Vice President of Doosan Enerbility; and Lee Byungcheol, CEO of Mirae and Challenge. Auditors appointed were Son Geumju, lawyer at Yulchon LLC, and Kim Byungsam, managing director at Deloitte Anjin LLC.

In his inaugural speech, Chairman Song expressed his ambition to do his best to develop the institute into a private think tank that contributes to the development of Korea's nuclear industry and proposes the best policies.

He also stated that a director recommendation committee will be formed to appoint the institute’s director through an open recruitment process as soon as possible.
