On the 15th, Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, urged Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act, and the Democratic Party to "stop the powerless protests and inciting politics for acquittal and protection, and apologize for the cowardly lies even now."

Choo, meeting reporters at the National Assembly in the afternoon, said, "No matter how much the power tries to build layers of protective walls, it cannot stop the river of justice."

He added, "And I hope you quietly observe the perjury coaching trial on the 25th. That is the minimum courtesy to the people." This is interpreted as a remark regarding the Democratic Party and opposition's announcement of an outdoor rally over the weekend.

Choo also emphasized, "I hope you keep in mind the old saying that a house built on good deeds will surely have happiness, and a house built on evil will surely have sin."

He expressed respect for the court, saying, "I pay tribute to the judiciary's decision. It has shown that justice is alive in the Republic of Korea," and added, "The Public Official Election Act trial is supposed to be finalized with a second trial verdict within three months after the first trial sentencing. Since the first trial verdict has been delayed for a long time, I urge the judiciary to promptly conclude the trial."

The Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 34 (Presiding Judge Han Sung-jin) sentenced Lee, who was indicted without detention for violating the Public Official Election Act, to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence on the same day. If this ruling is confirmed by the Supreme Court, Lee will lose his parliamentary seat and will also be unable to run in the next presidential election.
